Ranitidine Bismuth Citrate CAS 128345-62-0 is an organic compound with the chemical formula of C19H27BiN4O10S, an H2 receptor antagonist, a new type of anti-gastric acid secretion and gastric mucosal protection drug chemically synthesized from bismuth citrate and ranitidine, which possesses not only the inhibitory effect of ranitidine's H2 receptor antagonist but also the effect of colloidal bismuth against Helicobacter pylori and gastric mucosal protection. It has the effect of H2 receptor antagonist of ranitidine to inhibit gastric acid secretion and also has the effect of colloidal bismuth to resist Helicobacter pylori and protect the gastric mucosa, and its biological effect is better than that of the mixture of bismuth citrate and ranitidine.

The overall incidence of adverse reactions is approximately 1%. Common side effects include allergic reactions such as rare cases of skin itching and rashes. Gastrointestinal issues may occur, including nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, and constipation. Temporary liver dysfunction has been reported with repeated use of Ranitidine Bismuth Citrate-containing formulations. Occasional side effects include headache, joint pain, and rare cases of granulocytopenia. Black stool or tongue coating is a normal and harmless occurrence that resolves after discontinuing the drug.
